Certified Green Builder

As energy costs escalate and more attention is being given to the effects on the environment and our carbon footprint, more consumers are becoming more receptive to learning more about building “green”. Joybeck Custom Builders have always implemented building an energy efficient home and have tried to stay ahead of the trend by becoming a “Certified Green Professional” company.

There are three key areas in the green building effort. They are Energy, Water & Material Efficiency, as well as Durability.

With energy efficiency being the most important, this encompasses practices such as tight construction, improved thermal systems, adequate heating and cooling systems, air barrier continuity in the framing and sheathing stage, lighting efficiency using LED and Compact Fluorescent lights, energy efficient windows and Energy Star appliances.
The durability of a building is obviously extremely important. Without the balance of how the air, thermal and moisture barrier work together as a system, there is a adverse effect on building materials.
Water efficiency is also a very important component in the green building practice. Low flow, high efficiency toilets, low flow faucets and shower heads, Energy Star washing machines and engineered plumbing systems which entails where the water heater is located to a demand controlled hot water recirculation pump.

The indoor environmental quality is very important and this included duct tightness, right sized heating and cooling systems and equipment, low voc paints and carpeting, internal moisture and how it is managed, fresh air ventilation and air pressure balancing.
